Where the fishing is good & the crowds are minimal. An Eastern Sierra canyon spot for the weekend, just off the main highway. Summer campers on the peak holiday weekends, but most of the time it's pretty secluded & scenic. Aspen & boulder lined creek beds, awesome camping & cabins, plus granite views. The lodge at Tom's Place is very rustic -- and maybe still run down. The market, cafe & bar are still very active.
