Aggressively seeking a wild and talented programmer for a partnership role in an existing web company focused on local travel.
Job Description:
I am seeking a web programmer; an experienced back-end developer to join a well-established travel web site. This is not a web startup company; the site has been online for over 18 years. With 8000 pages of content, multiple databases, and constant monthly updates, as well as an ecommerce site featuring topographic maps, the site has established branding and decent web traffic showing the stability. Business Week magazine mentioned the site back in 2002, as well as L.A Times in 2001 and 2004. Traffic peaked in 2006 w/ 20,000 visitors per day, but now it hovers between 2000 -10,000 visitors per day, with the highest traffic being in the peak summer months.
We are an independent travel source specific to California and Baja destinations, founded in the web 1.0 days by an avid local traveler, California camping expert and former 3D animator. Our 2 decade old slogan reads: California, Off the Beaten Path. Thousands of local links and ideas for weekend getaways, camping and budget vacations. Back roads, forests, rivers, parks, lakes, museums, hot springs, organic farms and all outdoor recreation possibilities. Online since 1996 with tons of photos and destinations for your custom made adventures. No chain hotels, No amusement parks, No Vegas!
Our shortage is on programming talent, and we are searching only in California to find the perfect fit for this joint business venture. If you are passionate about the outdoors, web sites and managing large amounts of content, and are looking for real-world experience, I am looking for you.
Ideal Candidate:You are located in California and can work remotely via email on a per project basis. You are a self-motivated programmer with web skills, experience w/ mobile devices, responsive design knowledge and a well rounded set of technical skills. You are interested in partnership possibilities, eventually managing the site on a full time basis. You are flexible and can work on multiple small projects per month.
As a business partner, you will have ownership and responsibility on development, content and future directions of the company. Communication skills will be key since we may not always be based in the same geographic area. This is a great opportunity for seasoned professionals as well as college students looking for a place to put their web skills to work and build their own work-from-home career. You have a passion for California travel; Only outdoors enthusiasts will be considered for this partnership.
