If you seek to get away from the desert heat, this may be the best option. Spectacular views to the east, over the Death Valley basin. Access to hiking, backpacking, off roading, mountaineering opportunities. A great place to escape summer heat, but be warned of thunderstorms. Picnic table, fire ring, pit toilets &#8211; maintained with NPS.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elevation: 8,133&#8242;<\/li>\n<li>Number of Sites: 10<\/li>\n<li>Vehicle Accessibility: High Clearance, recommended. No RVs or trailers. 4&#215;4 needed in heavy rain or snow.<\/li>\n<li>Campsites Reservation: No<\/li>\n<li>Length of Stay: 30 Days<\/li>\n<li>Season: March &#8211; November<\/li>\n<li>Trailheads:\u00a0Telescope Peak &amp; Tuber Canyon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin: 10px;\" title=\"greatspot_i\" src=\"https:\/\/totalescape.com\/outside\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/greatspot_i.jpg\" alt=\"greatspot_i\" width=\"300\" height=\"183\" \/>Directions:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>From Stovepipe Wells, follow Highway 190 W to Emigrant Canyon. Turn left on Wildrose Road\u00a0and follow it thru the tight rocky canyon, climbing in elevation the whole way.<\/p>\n<p>Passing <a title=\"wildrose canyon camp\" href=\"https:\/\/totalescape.com\/outside\/campsites\/campground\/wildrose-campground\/\">Wildrose Campground <\/a>where the pavement ends, past\u00a0charcoal kilns, climbing in elevation past the pinyon pines at <a title=\"Thorndike Death Valley\" href=\"https:\/\/totalescape.com\/outside\/campsites\/campground\/thorndike-campground\/\">Thorndike Campground<\/a>, up, up, way up Mahogany Flat Road.<\/p>\n<p>From Panamint Valley, take Wildrose Road up.
