CALIF CENTRAL VALLEY Spanning 400 miles from top to bottom, this long basin separates the Coastal mountains and the much taller Sierra Nevada mountain range. Hundreds of farm towns, freeways, orchards, crop lands, packing houses, dairies, tractor suppliers, shopping malls and residential neighborhoods call this place home. Summer temps can exceed 100 degrees, for months. Air quality can be bad!
