Imagine finding yourself sitting at the edge of a pristine alpine lake, dining a hot, gourmet meal, camping high above the crowds, many miles from a dirt road, deep in the high altitude mountains, and the only way to get there was by foot. You did not haul a 60 pound backpack up hill for 2 days - you took a pack horse up! Guided tours like these are popular in the California mountains, especially the Sierra Nevada mountains. Snow doesn't start really melting until May, so the active season is a short (3 month) window for this type of recreation. Don't lag too long if you really wanna go.
