	Wildflowers in mid summer. White sand beaches, created from decomposed granite, on opposite side of lake. Take a picnic lunch & make a hike of it. This place is perfect for a half day hike if you happen to be camping at Red Lake.
Hike up the forested, granite slopes to the taller peaks & see the amazing views. All the way across the Mono Divide, way over to the Eastern Sierra, the Mammoth Mountain range.

Red Mountain Trail is real rough. Maintained by local 4WD clubs. Maybe a lifted &/or locked 4WD would be the better choice. This road should be taken by only experienced off-roaders!

Bluer than blue! Western Sierra lake that is not easy to reach, but with a 4WD vehicle, horseback or backpacking in on foot, it is a prime lake destination. Good fishing, decent hiking & great camping. It takes determination to access this special place, so you may as well spend a couple of days here. The first lake you reach will be Red Lake, very nice. But just keep on going another 2 miles up, fore real seclusion. Winter weather can snow as early as October, and by December the dirt road is usually closed for the season.
