Stargazing is best done far from city lights. Even tho San Diego eastern edge is creeping its way out, this mountain region is still the best & closest spot for San Diegians to get a good dark nights sky. Anza Borrego to the east is the other option if the chilly weather sets in for the mountains, or if the crowds are too much up here.
