Off Road mecca... 4x4 trails surround the region. This one above is Timber Truck Trail, atop Scott Russell Rd. Los Padres National Forest OHV route #115, off Cuddy Valley Road. YouTube video is 2008 footage of the infamous Miller Jeep Trail w/ new Toyota FJ Cruisers. SoCal rock crawling at it
's best.
Frazier Park CA is surrounded by Los Padres National Forest. Local camping is the Mount Pinos Recreation Area, Lockwood Valley & out on Cerro Noreste. Quads, dirt bikes & 4-wheel drive vehicles love these pinyon pine hillsides: mountain & high desert terrain. Lots of OHV trails to explore.
Mount Pinos has some of the darkest night skies in Southern California, so amateur astronomers frequent the area on the new moon weekends & love to show off their stuff. The main roads up to the top of both Mount Able & Mount Pinos close seasonally for snow.
The San Andreas fault cuts right thru this range, so there is plenty of wild & weird energy. Just off of Interstate 5 (aka Tejon Pass/the Grapevine), beyond the wildflower hillsides of Gorman & North of the Hungry Valley SVRA Park, Frazier Pk is a place to stop for a bite to eat, gasoline & the only real grocery store for miles. This town is also known as "F Park" & just Frazier CA.
Snow tourists/snow bunnies: Family snow play days & sledding are popular in this region in winter months (JAN-MAR). Camping, mountain biking, off roading & hiking are awesome the rest of the year.
