O-Ville: Historic downtown Oroville dates back to the gold rush, where the forks of the Feather River collide and rearrange the landscape. Flooding was common on the red dirt and granite mountains of oak & pines. Dam was built in the 1960's which formed the huge recreational Lake Oroville - for boating, skiing, fishing, camping, houseboats. Lush canyons, dry meadows, a variety of pine forest. Heavy residential town and lots of rural living on the back roads - remote lands, ranches, farms, gardens, greenhouses.
