Old town Shasta, or now Shasta State Historic Park, was once a center of commerce during the California Gold Rush Days and sits vacant today. Many building are fenced off for repairs or preservation.
Located just West of Redding - right along Highway 299, this small historic area has old red brick buildings with black iron hinges & gates. This is place is referred to as Shasta State Historical Park. Whiskeytown Lake & campgrounds are close by. Lewiston is also another historic small town nearby.
