Old Town Shasta, Old Shasta, Shasta City or otherwise known as Shasta State Historic Park, was once a center of commerce during the California Gold Rush Days and sits vacant today. Brick ruins and historic building are fenced off for repairs or preservation. Carr Fire did major damage to this town in 2018. Residential neighborhoods, minimal shops, the small post office is the center of town.
Located just West of Redding - right along Highway 299, this small historic area has old red brick buildings with black iron hinges & gates. Whiskeytown Lake & campgrounds are close by. Lewiston is also another historic small town nearby.

description:
Blink & you may miss it. The old townsite for Shasta is where all the action was happening back in the 1850's, as the mining craze hit Northern California. Several buildings have been restored.
