Very rural area of ranches and residential, in the local mountains above Redding. Hyampom is a long drive, on a narrow paved road. There's a hard-to-follow through-way of pavement back down to Highway 299. All National Forest land, but minimal signage. Locals take the signs down, cuz they don't want tourists back here. Can't imagine why? Avoid the nasty grow-hood of Trinity Pines, or you could end up on the wrong side of a gun.
