North San Juan is NSJ, northern Gold Country, on the North Yuba River. Town is also known as Upper San Juan and no one can tell me if there is actually a South San Juan. Lots of rural residential w/ ranches back in here; private property backing to National Forest lands. Very curvy back roads, half of which are dirt. Snow is possible at this elevation, so take that into account when boondocking in that camper van during winter months.

description:
Ages ago, blink and you'd miss it. Now a days, crowds form, people picnic, hang out, pedestrians dart out across highway and bikers frequent. Rural river town, near a large reservoir, with farms, organic cafe, pizza shop, post office, small market, and a drinking establishment.
Locals and tourists mingle about in the park and dirt parking lot, right across the street from the 'business district'. Shady characters, RVers just passing by, hikers, hippies, growers, tribal members, tourists in general. The whole town is maybe a half mile long of activity, so 25 mph, no stoplights; Right on busy historic state route 49.
