Many will argue that the definition of real camping is only when:
you hike into the wilderness, on foot, with a backpack
you pitch a tent and sleep on the ground, or
you camp overnight, outside of a developed campground;

The type and style of camping is vast w/ newer options emerging every passing year. Glamping, a term for glamour camping, usually expensive; Airbnb campsites on private property for a pretty price, plus surcharge fee; Backpackers trailheads, RV rentals, vintage camper vans, horse packing tours and fire tower lookouts.
